Stripy Fish Cursors

This set of 12 pointers is designed to add that stripy-cat feel in a non-intrusive fashion. Just like Fish himself. The pointers aren't animated so they won't ever become anoying, and their stylish design will please, but not distract you.

Many hours of work have been put into making these pointers a wonderful addition to your system. The downloadable Zip file above will unzip into 12 *.cur files, any or all of which you can setup as your pointers.

How to set up a Fish Cursor scheme.

Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME & NT/2000/XP
  • Download the file fish_cursors.zip by clicking on the link here, or above. Save the file into a suitable folder, you could call it 'fish_cursors'.
  • Unzip the file into the folder 'fish_cursors'. (If that's what you called it.) You should now have 12 *.cur files in that folder. (Plus your *.zip file.)
  • Click 'Start' - 'Settings' - 'Control Panel'. Then double click on the 'Mouse' icon to open the 'Mouse Properties' window.
  • In the 'Pointers' tag, drop down the 'Scheme' combo box and highlight 'None'. This will give you a nice default set of pointers that you can now use to create a personal scheme.
  • Double click on the 'Normal Select' pointer icon. This will bring up a browsing box where we can now point it to the cursor you want for normal select. Browse to the file 'fish_cursors' you created earlier, and double click on normalselect.cur. This will now set that pointer into your scheme. Repeat this process by double clicking on the cursor you wish to change, and pointing it to the one you want in 'fish_cursors'.
  • Click on 'Save As...' and give your scheme a name, say 'Stripy Fish'. now you can just use the drop down combo box in 'Scheme' to use the 'Stripy Fish' scheme you've created at any time, or even swap back to one of your other schemes.

Muvo v200 Icon. Download Now (muvo_v200.ico 8KB)
Created: 17/02/2005 by fishthecat. Edited by Ciaran 16/01/2006.

I like to get the most out of the hardware I buy. This little mod adds a finishing touch to my mp3 player. This is a 16x16 + 32x32 + 48x48 .ico file that can be used for all your Muvo v200 shortcut needs.

Muvo v200 icon 16x16.Muvo v200 icon 32x32.Muvo v200 icon 48x48.

Both the 16x16 and 32x32 ones have transparent backgrounds, the 48x48 one doesn't...

Thanks to Ciaran from Sabre Web Design for fixing the icon. All sizes have now got transparent backgrounds! Thank you so much, that's annoyed me for ages.

As you can see, it looks great as a desktop shortcut, but it also can be set up on the Muvo itself. It then shows up in My Computer and on the Task Bar and Title Bars as you can see here.
Muvo v200 icon on taskbar.Muvo v200 icon in My Computer.Muvo v200 icon as a Tile.

It also appears in the right click -> send to menu on Windows XP. This has to be the easiest way to send folders of mp3s to your muvo.
Muvo v200 icon on sent to.

How to set up the muvo icon.

You will need a text editor like MS Notepad.
  • Copy muvo_v200.ico to the root your mp3 player.
  • Create a new textfile, add the following two lines to it.
    [autorun]
    icon=muvo_v200.ico
  • Rename the text file to autorun.inf and copy it to the root of your mp3 palyer.
  • For added neatness, you could also make the files hidden.

I like The Mighty Boosh, a comedy radio/tv/shage show here in the UK. I made this favicon as a gift for the official Mighty Boosh website, but they haven't replied to my submission. Maybe I'll have more luck with the unofficial site.

Fish Skin for The Sims

SimFish at his Computer Download Now (sim_fish.zip 27KB)
Created: 28/07/2001 by fishthecat.

Have you ever wanted to play with Fish, control him, help him find love, or just boss him around? Well now you can with this handy pair of Fish skins and a copy of The Sims by EA Games.

Every effort has been made to make SimFish as accurate as possible, from his lovely red waistcoat and matching red collar to his big goth boots. Eagle eyed players will even spot his yellow cats eyes and his fish ear-ring. This Sim is just as good as the real thing.

The two skins

How to Import and Run SimFish.

You will need a copy of The Sims installed.
  • Download the file sim_fish.zip by clicking on the link here, or above. Save the file into a suitable place on your computer.
  • Unzip the file. You will see it contains two *.bmp images, the head and the body skins. (See right)
  • Copy the two files into the ..\The Sims\GameData\Skins folder in the directory where you installed The Sims game.
  • Start up The Sims and go into the Create New Family screen. Give Fish a surname, perhaps 'The Cat'. Next, click on the 'Add a New Sim' button.
  • Give Fish a name, say 'Fish', and then you need to find his head and body. Fish is an adult, light skinned male, so make sure that those options are chosen. Next, cycle through the heads and bodies until you find Fish. N.B. Multiple body types will use the skins, so make sure Fish's skin isn't put on to a body wearing shorts.
  • Fish is Sagittarius in real life, but acts far more like Aquarius. Then just save the Sim and move Fish in to your neighbourhood.

Fish Skin for GTA3

Help Fish live out his dark side by getting him to jack cars and wack people with this GTA3 skin.
Yes, Fish has found his way into Grand Theft Auto III, the most brilliant driving/gangland game he owns. Now you can get Fish to blow away porn barrons, drive over pedestrians and jump small buildings in fast cars. Sweet!

Due to the limitations of skinning for GTA3, this skin doesn't give Fish his tail or pointy ears. Although, I do think the tough-guy look, looks good for fish. Maybe I should go out and get myself a red leather jacket?

The 80s. What a decade! The music, the clothes, and the haircuts. Who could forget? Well, now you don't have to with this lovely Fish skin for GTA Vice City.
Have Fish ride bikes, fly choppers, and cruise the sunset bathed streets of Vice City.

Again, due to the limitations of skinning for GTA, this skin doesn't give Fish his tail or pointy ears. Do you think the shirt suits Fish? What about the pumps?

Fish Skin for GTA Vice City (Black Hair)

Fish doesn't really has blue hair. It all came from a photo where the white hairspray looked a bit blue. Anyway, I've made a more realistic version on my GTA:Vice City skin to put things straight. Black hair with white highlights makes Fish look a lot less like a red, white and blue flag, and more like himself.
